Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2  is a 2017 American science fiction superhero comedy film that came out on April 10, 2017 in Tokyo and May 5, 2017 in the United States. In this film, the Guardians are hired by the Sovereign, a powerful alien race, to protect precious batteries from invaders. When it is discovered that Rocket Raccoon stole the devices, the Sovereign resolve to hunt them down. During their escape, team leader Star-Lord learns where he came from. Like its predecessor, GotGV2  is set in outer space. The film balances light-hearted and serious moments, with the antics of an infant Groot being among the highlights. Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt, Guardians of the Galaxy ) is mistaken for the "Special" by Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks, The Hunger Games ) and soon finds himself in conflict with a corrupt businessman named Megamind (voice of Will Ferrell, Megamind ). God (Morgan Freeman, Bruce Almighty ) is a mystic, Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace ) is a split-personality cop, Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia ) is a spaceman, Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman, Parks and Recreation ) is a pirate, and Annie Edison (Alison Brie, Community ) is a princess. Plus, Morton Schmidt, Greg Jenko (Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, 21 Jump Street ), Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders, How I Met Your Mother ), and G.O.B. Bluth (Will Arnett, Arrested Development ) are superheroes.
