Toy Story 3 vs. The Dark Knight Rises

Image
Did you know that The Dark Knight Rises  and Toy Story 3  are the same story? Let me tell you why. Years after the events of the second film ( The Dark Knight ;  Toy Story 2 ), the main character (Sheriff Woody; Bruce Wayne/Batman) has been living off the grid for a while (Andy has grown up and is preparing to go to college, leaving the remaining toys uncertain about their future; Batman took the blame for the crimes of DA Harvey Dent and went into hiding). Upon returning, he faces a villain (Lots-O'-Huggin' Bear; Bane) who puts the oppressed in charge (Lotso takes his pain to Sunnyside Daycare and turns it into a prison for toys; Bane takes over Gotham City and occupies it for six months). In the chaos, the hero is separated from his friends (Woody is picked up by a little girl named Bonnie Anderson while trying to escape; Bane breaks Batman's back and imprisons him in a deep, well-like prison) and ends up in a foreign location (Bonnie's house; The Pit), where he lea...

Live-Action Lilo & Stitch

Image
Lilo & Stitch  is one of my favourite Disney movies. It's about a young girl who adopts a strange-looking dog, not knowing that he is an alien fugitive. This is my cast for a 2015 live-action version. Quvezhané Wallis as Lilo Pelekai Zoë Kravitz as Nani Pelekai Laurence Fishburne as Cobra Bubbles Jason Momoa as David Kawena Michael Shannon as Agent Bradley Crowe Tom Hiddleston as Agent Benedict Costello Alfred Molina as Dr. Jumba Jookiba (voice and motion capture) Jason Sudeikis as Agent Pleakley (voice and motion capture) Featuring Gerard Butler as Captain Gantu (voice and motion capture) with Judi Dench as the Grand Councilwoman (voice and motion capture) and Andy Serkis as Stitch/Experiment 626 (voice and motion capture)

RED

RED is an action movie about a retired CIA agent who teams up with some former colleagues to survive after an attempt on his life. This is how I see it. John McClane (Bruce Willis in Die Hard ) is a retired CIA agent who needs help from his former colleagues God (Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty ), Cyrus "the Virus" Grissom (John Malkovich in Con Air ), Queen Elizabeth II (Helen Mirren in The Queen ), and Col. William Stryker (Brian Cox in X2: X-Men United ). Also, Éomer (Karl Urban in The Lord of the Rings ) and Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon in Fantastic Four ) appear as a CIA agent and the Vice President, respectively. Awesome.

Live-Action The Road to El Dorado

Image
Sometimes, I try to bring non-Disney animated movies to life in live-action form. Today, I'll discuss my cast for DreamWorks Animation's The Road to El Dorado . It's about two con artists who get their hands on a map leading to the fabled city of gold, El Dorado, where they are mistaken for gods. Oscar Isaac as Tulio Chris Hemsworth as Miguel Lupita Nyong'o as Chel Antonio Banderas as Chief Tannabok Benicio del Toro as Tzekel-Kan Javier Bardem as Hernan Cortes

Split vs. Beauty and the Beast

Image
Did you know that the 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast  is basically M. Night Shyamalan's Split  for kids? Let me tell you why. A reclusive young man who calls himself "the Beast" (Kevin Wendell Crumb/the Prince) kidnaps an introverted young woman (Casey Cooke/Belle), along with those close to her (Marcia and Claire/Maurice), and imprisons them in his large home (Kevin kidnaps the girls and imprisons them in his underground home, intending to sacrifice them to a ruthless split personality called "the Beast"/the Beast imprisons Maurice in his castle for attempting to take a rose from his garden, and Belle, Maurice's daughter, later allows herself to be imprisoned in exchange for his freedom). During their incarceration, the captives meet their captor's equally twisted "family," (Kevin has 23 split personalities, who each take turns controlling Kevin's body/the Beast's servants have been magically transformed into inanimate objects...

I Saw Beauty and the Beast

Last night, I saw Beauty and the Beast . In it, Hermione Granger (Emma Watson in Harry Potter ) takes the place of her father, Artemus Gordon (Kevin Kline in Wild Wild West ), who was taken prisoner by a monstrous Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens on  Downton Abbey ). Encouraged by Matthew's cursed servants, the gruff Gandalf (Ian McKellen in The Lord of the Rings ), the French-accented Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor in Star Wars ), the neurotic Caesar Flickerman (Stanley Tucci in The Hunger Games ), the motherly Mrs. Lovett, the opera-singing Beggar Woman (Emma Thompson and Audra McDonald in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street ), and the feathery Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw in Belle ), Hermione and Matthew grow close to one another. Meanwhile, ex-soldier Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans in The Hobbit ) seeks Hermione as his wife with help from Olaf (Josh Gad in Frozen ). Sounds awesome, huh? It is. In fact, it's superior to the one from 1991 starring Paige O'Hara and Robby Bens...

Casting a Live-Action Version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Image
Disney has been turning their old animated films into live-action lately, and I like casting some of them that they have not done yet. Here is an underrated Disney film called The Hunchback of Notre Dame . It's about a deformed bellringer at Notre Dame who seeks independence from a cruel government minister and falls in love with a gypsy woman. Here is my cast for such a film. Directed by Tom Hooper Eddie Redmayne as Quasimodo Rosario Dawson as Esmeralda Channing Tatum as Phoebus Charles Dance as Judge Claude Frollo Sacha Baron Cohen as Clopin Geoffrey Rush as the Archdeacon Hugh Laurie as Victor (voice) Jonah Hill as Hugo (voice) Julie Walters as Laverne (voice)

The Dark Knight vs. Se7en

Image
Did you know that the 2008 superhero thriller The Dark Knight  is the same story as another movie with Morgan Freeman in a major role? That's right. Seven . This is why they are the same. An unidentified psychopath (John Doe; the Joker) commits atrocious murders to teach the public skewed lessons on morality (Doe creatively murders people according to the Seven Deadly Sins of Christianity; Joker lives to foil people's plans). He leaves clues for the police to follow his trail (Doe writes the name of the Deadly Sin next to his victims; the police's attempts to stop Joker's plans ironically enable them to happen). An older character (William Somerset; Alfred Pennyworth) tries to advise the main character (David Mills; Bruce Wayne/Batman) to stay within the law during his pursuit of the villain. However, the villain wants the hero to kill him (Doe goads Mills into kill him in order for him to embody the sin of wrath; Joker tries to provoke Batman into killing him to prov...

What is Role Association?

Role Association is when you take a movie and replace its characters with characters that the actors played in other movies. Here is an example. Has anyone seen the 2005 superhero thriller film Batman Begins ? It's one of my favourite movies of all time. In that film, Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale in  American Psycho ) seeks Qui-Gon Jinn's (Liam Neeson in  Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace ) guidance to learn how to fight injustice. When he learns that Qui-Gon plans to destroy his city, believing it to be beyond saving, Patrick returns home, where he becomes a costumed vigilante, teaming up with Commissioner Sirius Black (Gary Oldman in  Harry Potter ), God (Morgan Freeman in  Bruce Almighty ), the CEO of his father's company, and his butler, Nigel Powers (Michael Caine in  Austin Powers in Goldmember ), to save his city (and childhood friend Joey Potter (Katie Holmes in  Dawson's Creek )) from a terrorist attack. Are you impressed with my way of th...
